She is the little girl that has captured hearts of other little (and grown!) girls for over 40 years, and now Hello Kitty is returning to her London home town – by way of Soho.
The Hello Kitty pop-up at Cutter & Squidge (Made in Chelsea feature location alert!) has temporarily bloomed into Kitty’s secret garden, where you can sit among the overhanging ivy vine flourishings, sipping lychee fruit tea and sampling the bakery’s legendary ‘biskies’. (If you’re unfamiliar, these are the exclusive, award-winning biscuit-cookie-cake invention of Cutter & Squidge’s creative bakers.) Naturally, the smallest of details have been considered and given an eponymous kitty makeover.
To give you a flavour, the cinnamon and apple mouse pots with shortbread is a nod to Hello Kitty’s love for Mama’s homemade apple pie, and twin sister, Mimmy, serves up her own pink lemonade in mini milk bottles and straw complete with the signature bow. (Kawaii!)
Presented in traditional bamboo steamers, the menu is a sweet and savoury fusion of English and some Asian flavours, from the traditional (cucumber finger sandwiches) to the trendy (Matcha green tea dipped strawberries).
For the clean eating concious, you’ll be please to know that naughty ingredients are limited to “just as much as needed to make something delicious” and, true to the ethos of Cutter & Squidge, everything is homemade and natural – even the food colouring – so you can be sure of no artificial nasties.
Anyone for cake?
Hello Kitty afternoon tea at Cutter and Squidge runs until 31st August 2016. Book your table here.
