Ultimate Hot Chocolate

The ultimate, once in a while / treat yourself, winter warmer (plus fairy lights for added hygge).

You’ll need:

  • 2 pints milk, plus 1/2 pint for frothing (makes four servings)
  • 50g 70% cocoa dark chocolate
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • Sugar to taste

On a low heat, simmer the milk and slowly whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth. Once heated through, add the chocolate and allow to gently melt. Incorporate the cinnamon (and any sugar) to taste, before transferring into a mug.

To froth the milk, add 1/2 pint into a glass bowl and whisk until tall bubbles form. Quickly microwave high for 20 seconds, or until the milk forms a cappuccino-esque froth.

Spoon the froth atop your cup of cocoa and sprinkle grated nutmeg (or chocolate) to finish.

Find a comfy spot, cocoon yourself in a blanket, and enjoy!
