An Evening of Beauty with Trinny Woodall

It’s not often that an opportunity presents itself for an introduction to a beauty brand by the entrepreneurial woman behind it. So, when style columnist and all-round fashion expert, Trinny Woodall, invites you to her South Ken HQ for dinner and a play with her newest venture, Trinny London, there was only ever one way to RSVP.

Catch up on all the dinner table beauty chat and find out how Trinny London is changing the way we wear, apply, and carry make up.

Oh, and for a sneak peek into the bathroom of beauty product dreams…

Trinny London, four years in the making, has set about to break a number of beauty moulds as it makes its debut. It is this ‘rule book out the window’ concept, something so characteristic of Trinny herself, which is where the cosmetic line comes into its own in a saturated market.

Firstly, it is a collection that is entirely cream-based. Every product is, or can be, housed in a travel- and handbag-friendly, stack-able pod (or “T-Pot”). But, perhaps most revolutionary of all for an industry that relies so much on sampling, it is only available to buy online.

Consider this for a moment, and it won’t surprise you to learn of the behind-the-times scepticism of would-be investors. Imagine, then, pitching its evening launch to online ‘influencers’, ‘Instagammers’, and content creators. It is this precise foresight into the future of the beauty industry that makes Trinny London so exciting.

Trinny explains why the range is all cream-based as being easier to apply, build, and retouch with just fingers. And this tactile ease is a shared love, for the girl about town applying her make up in the back of a taxi, to the avid traveller with hand-luggage restrictions.

Trinny London goes that step further with its innovative pod packaging, that neatly click together to form a compact, but complete, make up bag. It is the capsule wardrobe of beauty.

What about the online store? Well, its Match2Me tool helps define skin tone for base make up and primer, and offers complementary lip, eye, cheek and contour shades.

Trinny is all too happy to introduce the collection over dinner, encouraging a feel of the texture of the products and natural contours of the face whilst applying without the need for a mirror. (Still working on that one).

So, what are the standout products? For me, the winner is Trinny’s BFF Skin Perfecter tinted primer with SPF. It’s a perfect canvas for foundation, but doubles as a lightweight base for no-make-up days.

And Trinny’s hero products? That would be:

  • Lip Glow in Lyla (named after her daughter)
  • BFF Skin Perfecter
  • Lip2Cheek in Phoebe

And for the bathroom of dreams? Well, see for yourself…
